Dismissing is an attempt to convince someone that their reality of what happened is not accurate. People often do this without realizing that we all live inside our heads, filtering and perceiving experiences differently. We cannot talk about objective realities, hence dismissing what somebody went through doesn’t bring anyone closer to the truth of what actually occurred — it just makes the parties involved build their walls really high.
