This is narcissism speaking, sadly enough... Basically, this prejudice is saying "I am above it". And I'm not merely referring to the pathology here (NPD). Like anything is psychology, narcissism is a spectrum going from tendencies to pathology (those who lost their soul battle and turned bad to evil).

The higher the tendencies are, the stronger the denial is. For inherently good folks, in a desperate trial to cope with their harsh environment, they needed to amplify their self-esteem; thus developing average to high narcissistic tendencies.

In the quality of a suicide survivor marking my re-birth through the out-of-body experience that saved me, I am often asked the uncomfortable question, "what makes you that special to be saved by the grace of your pure love divinity while so many proceeded with dramatically ending their lives?"

You may spot the tendencies in the question itself given that an empath would consider others' feelings and keep in mind the horrible traumas they went through and they'd unlikely ask such a question in the first place.

I've been reflecting on it for a long time and shared my theory some time ago. It seems to me that what made the difference is the mother of all virtues: humility.

I suppose that people who hit rock bottom and who do have narcissistic tendencies might have executed their unfortunate plan because the tendencies didn’t leave any room to enough humility so that they could receive the light of the Universe...

One might ask a legitimate question: but doesn’t this make the Universe unfair? Again, and those are my personal thoughts: probably not given that when we are trying to find the most adequate psychological survival strategy during our childhood (where all the crap is built because of our irresponsible caregivers), our FREE WILL is the keyword. Some would choose the "unaware empath" path (the most humble folks). Others would go for the easiest path: turning into pathological narcissists. Others would be somewhere in between.
