Oh how much I feel you, my friend!!! I relate to your story. My mother's control is much more covert, though. Her image is extremely important; thus, will never lose control to that level of impulsiveness.

Her resentment and rage will rather come in the form of silent treatment, passive-aggressive comments and smear compaings. And, obviously, she never apologizes! :)
