How accurate, my wise friend! As parents, we may talk for the eternity. If our behavior doesn't match our words; if we don't CONSISTENTLY model what we preach, then not only will the kids feel confused; they slowly lose faith in their caregivers and the world as a whole. Worst case scenario, and that's the most heartbreaking part for me and such a common by-product of unhealthy family systems (where narcissism rules), in order for them to make sense of what's happening while believing their parents can't be anything less than perfect, some kids choose to become the villain in the story...

P.S. Narcissistic parents are not just those with Narcissitic Personality Disorder, although it can mean that, but narcissistic in the way that they are more focused on their own comfort instead of being a parent and in the role that they decided to take on, those who know what it means and even cherish and enjoy having children like we see with someone who is more securely attached. ~ Patrick Teahan
